I awoke from my 3 hour and 17 minute slumber, took a shower and got ready. I even did my hair today. Just high-fived myself about that one again. I then went to Ms. Kourtney's and helped move a table into her room. We listened to What a Girl Wants by Christina Aguilera. I am ashamed to say that I knew all the lyrics. I just caught my breath from barfing all day on that fact. Kourtney then realized that there was a certain item that needed to be taken care of. (I know you are just dying to know what it is. But I can't tell you!) So we hurriedly took care of what had been forgotten. (It's killing you isn't it?)
Moving on...
We then went to talk to her manager. While in that area of town we stopped by a coffee shop. All I will say is I can't stand Batista's that don't know a dang thing about coffee. You work in a coffee shop, but you... drop it Rachel, drop it. *Counting to three... Much better. I was patient and explained how I would like my drink made.
First try- I wanted soy. She gave me whole milk.
Second try- Not even warm.
Third try- No foam.
But! I was beside myself and decided we needed to ditch that scene. So we did just that.
We parted.
I went to Starbucks. The usual. I sat there, reading and writing and sipping and typing the way I usually do all the while feeling the storm coming in. Then waltzing in to grace me with his presence- a lovely, dear, old friend. We talked and typed and reminisced together. Oh! Talking with a familiar face about faded memories all while drinking a wonderful cup of Joe subsided many harsh items in my life. *Sigh
Then I ran to get my items at Target.
Item #1 face wash
Some apricot thing that works wonders for me.
Item #2 mascara
I lost my mascara. But I found it like 20 minutes ago. Oh well, it's almost out.
Item #3 socks
I don't like shoes. I don't wear shoes. So I didn't need socks. It's cold now. I think it was in my best interest to invest in some socks.
Item #4 eye liner
I did not get around to purchasing Item #4 because Item #5 sent me storming out of Target.
Item #5 (the storming out item)- a Bach CD
I lost all my CDs. I am working on building my collection again. I was riding on my shopping cart, browsing, gliding, smiling. I cruised my way into the MUSIC section. I searched alphabetically for Bach. But he was M.I.A. I stared at the self. Silly me, he's probably on a lighted, sparkling pedestal. That would seem most fitting. Hmm... No pedestal. I decided to ask for assistance.
Me: "Good afternoon! Could you please direct me to where I can find a Bach CD?"
Girl: "What kind of CD? Country?"
Me: Thinking she hadn't heard me. "Bach. Classical. Awesome."
Girl: "Let me check in the computer system. How do you spell it? B-A-C-K?"
Me: *eye twitch "B-A-C-H. Bach!"
Girl: "Is it like rock or country?"
Me: I bowed my head. My hands were strangling the basket handle. I counted to three. I spoke slowly. "Johann. Sebastian. Bach. CLASSICAL."
She said nothing. Just looked at me like she was deranged or something. Because she had to have been...
Me: "The composer and organist... Never mind."
A different employee chimed in.
He: "I'm sorry Ms. I'm afraid all we have is a small selection for wedding music."
Me: "Okay. Thank you." My voice was weak. My eye was still twitching. My heart was fluttering and I was feeling slightly dizzy. I pushed my cart to a check out lane and bought my socks, mascara and face scrub. Then, you guessed it. I stormed out of Target.
Al and I ate a baguette in the kitchen. I was soon off to see dear Kami. (Hi Kami!) We were going to swim. (Sit in the hot tub because we were frozen.) We never got that far. But we did have a lovely chat for hours. I need it. If I EVER need an assistant for ANYTHING I would hire Kami. She gives me the best advice. I sit there and stress about things. By the time Kami and I get around to kicking I've dissolved to a sad, nothingness. I tell Kami my situation. She usually gives me a simple: "Well, why don't you..." answer. You know the light bulb above your head that lights up when you have an idea? I think Kami has a football field of light bulbs above her head. Ah-Ha! Brilliance and perfection are among my first responses to her. She is brilliant. I love you Kami. Kami and I closed our night by sharing a Mucho Mango Arizona Tea together. What a lovely way to end a day. Just lovely.
